PRE-AUCTION EXHIBITION: 18 – 26 November 2011

Over 200 works of art will be displayed at the exhibition, which will be put up for auction on 26 November 2011.

For the first time in the almost 100-year history of its existence, a unique painting by Nikolai Rerikh (1847-1947), “By the Boundary”, will be exhibited, which was painted in 1915. The painting was in the collection of the artist’s wife, Elena Rerikh. It was purchased at a charity auction in 1916, and was kept in a private collection for almost 100 years. For all this time, the work was never exhibited or reproduced.

The exhibition also includes works by leading Russian artists of the late 19th-20th centuries, such as D. Levitsky, I. Aivazovsky, K. Makovsky, B. Kustodiev, and M. Larionov, and items of decorative and applied art and jewelry, including items from the Faberge firm.
